Description

  • Pine, Metal, Silk
of recent manufacture, each with a buttoned back and padded seat in yellow watermark silk, the collapsible x-frame supports painted with a highly figured grain

Condition

This specially commissioned set is of good quality. The upholstery has been well protected and each chair comes with a linen cover. However, there are tears to some of the silk coverings, there are also some marks. The painted decoration of each is worn in places particularly those areas which are affected by the movement of the folding action. There are losses to the painted decoration revealing a white gesso undercoat there are also some splits to some of the wooden elements. Sotheby's, particularly in this instance, would recommend inspection in the galleries
