Condition

The canvas is relined and is in in good condition, with no sign of flaking or loss of paint. Ultraviolet light reveals more recent infillling of craquelure in the sky. Signs of an older campaign of restoration are infilling of craquelure and small areas of retouching in the foliage. There is lovely detail to be seen, even with a magnufying glass, looking into the Heath and exploring the figures walking through the grass in the distance. This lot is offered in a gilt frame with decorative mouldings on the innermost band, in very good condition and ready for display.
