Condition

The oak panel becomes thinner towards the lower edge and has a slight convex bend. It is bevelled on the upper, left and right edges. There are two small semicircles of lost paint, repaired, which are hidden beneath the frame. There is craquelure throughout, but the paint surface is not worn. An old yellow varnish gives the entire composition a tinge. A few minor knocks along the upper and lower edges due to wear, these are also only visible when the picture is out of its frame. Inspection under UV light shows repair to the aforementioned semicircular damages and some fine horiozontal lines in the upper part of the composition, where natural grooves in the structure of the wood have meant been infilled. These are not noticeable to the naked eye. Two further specks of overpainting in the upper right corner. The lot is offered in a wooden frame, carved with an intricate patterm, but left unpainted to suit the rustic scene portrayed. It is in fine condition with no knocks.
