  • Bust of a Young Woman
  • bearing the signature and date: J. J. Caffieri - 1773. fecit
  • terracotta, on a veined red marble socle

Condition

Overall the condition of the bust is good with dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is particular dirt concentrated in the crevices. There are chips and nicks throughout and rubbing to the surface. There are a number of small losses, including a small loss to the centre of one of the roses in her hair. There is some discolouration and mottling to the surface. The red marble socle has a stable restored split at back of it at the base.
