Condition
Original canvas. There is a craquelure pattern across the surface, otherwise appears generally sound.
Ultraviolet light reveals an opaque varnish and scattered flecks of retouching across the surface. There is an inverted L-shape in the elderly figure descending the stairs which relates to an old tear.
