Condition
Le dessin est ne bon état. La feuille n'est pas contrecollée. Le montage acide a légèrement fait jaunir les bords et quelques rousseurs sont éparpillées sur la feuille. Quelques salissures sont également éparpillées.
The drawing is in good condition. The sheet is not laid down. The mount is acid and the edges under the mount are slightly yellow. Several foxings and a few dirt stains are scattered over the surface.

Boldini possédait un moulage en plâtre du buste du cardinal de Médicis du Bernin. Ce buste fut donné à l'artiste par le musée des Offices en échange d'un autoportrait exécuté en 1891 pour sa célèbre galerie des autoportraits.
Boldini l'avait installé sur la cheminée de sa chambre. Il le représentait souvent dans des dessins et des tableaux, dont l'un est conservé au musée Boldini de Ferrare.
