- Haut 111 cm, diam. bouquet de lumières 37,5 cm
- Height 43 3/4 in; branches diam. 14 3/4 in
figurant Bacchus et une bacchante, chacun tenant un thyrse supportant sept bras de lumière, ornés de têtes de bouc et de pampres de vigne ; reposant sur un socle octogonal orné de pampres et bacchantes ; (socles percés pour l'électricité)
Condition
Illustration is accurate.
Gilt-bronze mounts with very few wear : small spots of oxidation on the branches, few tiny stains and inevitable scratches on the bases.
Patinated bronzes with a beautiful and deep colour, and only slight scratches in places.
The cup and the ewer with a little loose (need to be refixed).
One small hole in each pedestal (possibly a small element missing).
Spectacular candelabra in very good condition, highly decorative.

Ce modèle s'inspire probablement des gravures de l'ornemaniste et architecte Charles Normand (1765-1840) dont une planche, publiée dans Modèles d'Orfèvrerie choisis aux expositions des Produits de l'industrie française au Louvre (Paris, 1822), reproduit quatre exemplaires de girandoles exposés en 1819 (ill. dans H.
