Description

deftly carved as Liu Hai seated to the rear of the log-raft next to a double-gourd with his body turned to his left, holding onto his toad with his left hand and a bag of coins with his right, the interior and underside of the vessel naturalistically carved to simulate a knotty surface and wavy stream, the stone of an even pale celadon tone with faint russet inclusions, wood stand

Condition

The carving is in overall good condition. There are are some typical occasional insignificant nibbles along the edges, original to the carving. There is a small icy inclusion on the three-leg toad in his left hand and a small russet inclusion behind the figure on the edge of the raft. The tone is otherwise even and the actual colour slightly more pale green compared to the catalogue illustration.
