Description
the cup of hexagonal form supported on a short hexagonal footring, set with a small loop handle issuing from an elongated chilong mask, finely painted with flower sprays between a border of tiny petals above the foot and semi-florets at the rim, the interior picked out with a flower spray, the rim gilt; the saucers with hexagonal everted sides supported on a low circular footring, similarly painted in a famille-verte palette, one with archaistic objects set on a low table, all within cartouches enclosing flowers or a young boy frolicking on a lotus around the cavetto, the other with two egrets in a lotus pond surrounded by floral cartouches, each inscribed on the base in underglaze blue with a single 'G' mark within double circles; the flambé vase with a globular body surmounted by a slightly flared tubular neck, covered in a deep crimson-red glaze transmuting to white at the rim, wood stands
Condition
This charming cup is in good condition with some expected rubbing to the gilding on the rim.
There is an old 1.6 x 0.5 cm shallow chip above the rim to a corner of one of the saucers, the other is in good condition.
The vase is in overall good condition. The recessed base is glazed white although covered with excesses of colourless glaze.
