Description

well potted with deep rounded sides rising form a short straight foot, the exterior decorated in vivid multi-coloured enamels against a ruby-red ground with four lotus blooms born on interlocking meandering foliate stems, alternating with smaller green- and blue-petalled blossoms issuing from ruyi-shaped heads, the base inscribed in underglaze blue with a four-character hall mark within double circles

Sotheby's Hong Kong, 11th April 2008, lot 2920 (one of a pair).

Condition

The bowl is in overall good condition. There is a small discoloured accretion to the mouth rim. There are a few imperfections in the glaze, minute iron spots or light scratches to interior. There are occasional minute loss of enamel to the flower petals or famille rose leafy patterns.
