Description
the largest vessel surmounted by a short circular neck, flanked with a pair of small circular handles, the upper half decorated in a brown glaze with geometric patterns; the 'cocoon'-shaped jar supported on a high splayed foot, set with a neck rising to an everted rim, the pottery of a smooth texture and burnished to a reddish-beige colour
Condition
There appears to be restorations in some areas around the neck of the cocoon jar as well as a restoration to a 7cm section on the footrim and to some areas of the mouthrim. There are some typical encrustations on the surface on the outside and on the rim, as shown in the catalogue illustration. More generally one can anticipate repairs and reassembly as it is customary for this type of excavated material. The actual colour is consistent with the catalogue illustration. The wood stand is in good condition.
The neck of the larger vessel is likely to have been restored with some repaint to the exterior and interior rim. More generally one can anticipate more repairs and reassembly as it is customary for this type of excavated material. The actual colour is consistent with the catalogue illustration.
