Catalogue Note
For another closely related white jade snuff bottle, worked with prunus and a four-character zhuanshu inscription, see Hugh Moss, Victor Graham and Ka Bo Tsang, A Treasury of Chinese Snuff Bottles: The Mary and George Bloch Collection, Vol. 1, Hong Kong, 1995, no. 118, where the authors argue that this style of carving is representative of the first stage of Suzhou snuff-bottle production.
