modelled after the archaic vessel prototype, resting on three bird-shaped feet and set with a 'dragon' loop handle, carved around the exterior with archaistic birds formed from angular scrollwork, the rim incised with key-fret, the translucent stone of pale greyish-brown colour
Condition
The ewer is in good overall condition. There is a natural russet vein to one side, together with a couple of original recesses in the carving. There are some occasional nicks or nibbles along the edges or on the rim of the vessel. The actual colour is more grey and less yellow compared to the illustration in the catalogue.
