Description
- porcelain
of pear-shaped form, rising from a slightly splayed foot to a waisted neck and an upturned rim, set with two fish-dragon handles suspending mock rings, deftly incised on each side with a leafy peony flower below upright leaves encircling the rim and applied overall with a thick celadon glaze, the interior of the base glazed, save for the footing left unglazed and fired to pale orange
Condition
The bottle vase is in good overall condition. There are a few expected firing imperfections, including a minute iron spot on the interior rim, some light nibbling along the edge of the handles, small glaze pulls towards the base and three firing cracks to the footrim, all original to the piece and characteristic of this type of ware. The actual colour is of a warmer celadon green tone, less yellow compared to the catalogue illustration.
