Description
- porcelain
the famille-verte dishes: each decorated with a poet, one standing dressed in flowing robes, the other seated on a garden rock below an aged tree, enclosed in a medallion reserved on a coral red ground, the base inscribed with a Chenghua mark; the famille-rose dishes: each finely enamelled with a spray of pink and red peony extending above a cluster of purple lingzhi, the underside left white
Condition
There is a lightly ground chip inside the rim to one famille-verte dish, the other is in good condition. There is some light rubbing and minor scratches to the enamels, together with expected firing imperfections, including pinholes and un burst pin prick air bubbles to the reverse of both. Each famille-rose dishes have an hairline crack to the rim, (1,8 and 0,5 cm respectively) together with few minor iron spots or small gaps in the glaze. They are otherwise well painted with very good enamels. The actual colours are brighter and not as toned as the illustration would suggest in the catalogue.
