Description

  • Jade
deftly carved with two catfish and flowering pomegranate sprays entwining around the arched shaft, a branch of osmanthus springing from garden rocks on the terminal, thread with a silk tassel

Condition

The ruyi is in very good overall condition. There are a few icy inclusions in the stone but overall the colour of the jade is quite even and the polish very good. Light occasional minor nibbling can be expected along the edges of the carving. The actual colour is more greenish-celadon, less white compared to the catalogue illustration.
