the ovoid body with well-rounded sides rising from a recessed base to a flanged neck, covered overall with a lustrous black glaze faintly speckled with gold, swiftly painted on the shoulder with russet strokes evoking a flower spray, the countersunk base glazed, the knife-pared footring left unglazed revealing a buff-coloured body

Condition

The jar is in good condition. There are some minor imperfections in the glaze, including minute original dents, gaps in the glaze, occasional minute air bubbles or pinholes, all characteristics of this type of ware.
