Condition
Original canvas which undulates slightly. There are a few hairline cracks near centre of lower edge, only visible upon close inspection. There is a faint diagonal abrasion running upwards left to right near centre of composition; otherwise the work appears in good overall condition. There is a discoloured varnish and the picture should respond well to cleaning.
Under ultraviolet light, there is an uneven varnish and some parts fluoresce but these appear to be the hand of the artist rather than retouchings.
Held in a black painted wood frame with a gilt inset.
