STRUCTURE
The canvas is unlined and the stretcher is providing good support. The surface is covered with a fine craquelure which is ony really apparent under close inspection. There are 2 small patches apparent to the verso to the lower left quadrant, which coincide with the stones to the lower left of the stream. There is a further small patch towards the upper right, to the background foliage.
ULTRAVIOLET
There are some scattered flecks of retouching in places, mainly to the background and corresponding to the patches. This has been well executed and the painting is presented in a stable and ready to hang condition.
FRAME
Well presented in a gilt composition Louis XV style frame.
