Catalogue Note
Presentation copy of the first edition, inscribed in the year of publication to Russell Doubleday on the first blank.
Grey's account of his inshore and deep sea angling for tarpon, striped bass, marlin and sailfish, much accomplished with light tacke. Grey also gives a thrilling report on the elusive "ghost of the the flats," the bonefish, a species that went largely unrecognized as a game fish for decades but is now seen as one of an angler's greatest challenges. Grey's encounter left him convinced that stalking tailing bones was his finest angling experience, going so far to even praise them as exquisite table fare.
