Five engraved maps, each approximately 11 3/8 x 19 1/4 in.; 290 x 490 mm, enclosed by engraved biblical scenes within oval medallions by Johannes van Duetecum ("Baptista Doetechomius"), all brilliantly handcolored; a few folds strengthened on verso without loss. Matted, glazed and framed.

Handsome set of maps by the Flemish cartographer Petrus Plancius(1552-1622), first published in a Dutch bible by Cloppenburg in 1590.

With hisWaerachtige beschrÿvinge vande wÿdvermaerde Conincklicke Hooft=Stadt Ierusalem. Amsterdam: Cloppenborch, [1590 or later]. Engraved plan, 11 1/2 x 19 1/2 in.; 292 x 495 mm; formerly folded, a few mended edge tears, some mends at folds. With 15 engraved biblical scenes within medallions surrounding the view of Jerusalem, all richly handcolored, Dutch text on verso.
