Catalogue Note

A famous curiosity, depicting the world as a cloverleaf, with Jerusalem at the center, and Europe, Asia and Africa each one of the leaves. America appears in the lower left corner and Scandinavia at the upper edge. It first appeared in Bünting's Itinerarium Sacrae Scriptura,a theological commentary with maps of the Holy Land, also offered in the present lot:
