Catalogue Note
A beautiful wall map, brilliantly preserved, of Schieland en de Krimpenerwaard in southwest Holland, based on surveys initiated in 1650 and updated in 1660 and 1684. The waterboards were the ancient organization of dike and river management in the Netherlands. The map shows the principal towns, villages, and settlements, differentiating the land ownerships. Stampioen (1610–after 1689) was a mathematician and surveyor in the Hague.
