Condition

This panel is made up of border fragments mounted as a screen. The reverse of the panel is covered in modern floral damask, of mushroom colour. There are scattered small repairs and some rewoven repairs. The brown areas have oxidised in places, commensurate with age and dye colour, and have repairs, see for example the column on the far right panel has repair in a different colour. There are some later dark outlines, for example around the feet and boots of figures. Sections of the borders have later reweaving, for example centre of the top borders as visible in the photograph, and the areas around the canopies. One of panels has a small hand down repair in coarse wool and some tinting to the left of the canopy. There are some areas of repair and reweaving to the heads, see for example the different coloured areas around the heads of the two central panels. There is later damask in a mushroom colour, matching the reverse, which applied across the lower edge of each panel, see for example the lower edge of far right panel. There are some weaknesses to the horizontal light highlights in areas, for example see the lower section of the far right panel, below the feet of the figure. This is a decorative, movable and usable screen.
