Description
- micromosaic, marble, silk, giltwood
- with frame 36cm. high, 40cm. wide.; 1ft. 2in.,1ft. 3¾in.
depicting the Piazza del Popolo, Milan Cathedral, Fori Imperiale, the view from Campidoglio, Coloseum, the Pantheon, St Peter's Square, a female in peasant dress on a red marble ground and Bacchus on a malachite ground, the Castello Sant'Angelo and Ponte Sant'Angelo, Fori Imperiale, view from Campidoglio, San Lorenzo in Lucina, Parthenon, on a black marble ground, on a later silk ground within a Modern carved giltwood frame, the reverse with the number 276 painted in white
Condition
All the micromosaics are in good condition. However, the one on the top right row with the Forum has a minor chip to underside of black marble, the one with the peasant woman has a similar chip. The one with the Lateranense church has a miniscule chip to rear right corner and the Forum next to it has a couple of miniscule chips to the corners. The micromosaics are framed but this is not illustrated in the catalogue.
