Condition

Good clear hallmarks on top of stand and underside of vase, the cast coat-of-arms and oak leaf wreaths are also marked, the vase and stand have been lacquered, overall condition is very good.

Catalogue Note

The arms are those of Duncombe with Field quartering Wilmer and others in pretence for Captain the Hon. Arthur Duncombe RN, second surviving son of Charles, 1st Baron Feversham (1764-1841) by his wife, Charlotte, only daughter of William, 2nd Earl of Dartmouth. He, who was born on 24 March 1806, married as his first wife on 14 July 1836 at St. George’s, Hanover Square, Delia (d. 1873), youngest daughter and co-heir of John Wilmer Field of Heaton Hall, Yorkshire. Duncombe, who eventually achieved the rank of Admiral and sometime sat as MP for East Retford and the East Riding of Yorkshire, married on 13 March 1977 his second wife, Jane Maria (d. 1917), daughter of Sir James Walker, 1st Bt. He died on 6 February 1899.
