Description

  • Giltwood, glass
  • 145.5cm. high, 77.5cm. wide, 11cm. deep,; 57¼in., 30½in., 4½in.
with a divided bevelled plate, the scroll- carved cresting with eagle head motifs and a punched ground, with a conforming apron, re-gilded

Provenance

Possibly commissioned by Richard Grenville (d. 1727) for Wotton Buckinghamshire, or inherited through his wife, Hester, Countess Temple of Stowe, Buckinghamshire.
At Wotton, Buckinghamshire when the house was purchased Michael Wentworth Beaumont in 1929 and thence by descent.

Condition

As stated in the cataloguing this mirror has been re-gilded. Some age cracks. Some wear and minor chips to gilding particularly along lines of construction and lower edge. The plates are marked. Lacking candle arms. An attractive mirror.
