  • each framed 28cm. high, 21cm. wide;11in., 8¼in.
each of oval form depicting in white marble Julius Ceasar, Ottavius Augustus, Domiziano, Titus, Vespasianus and Vitelio on a black marble ground within a later painted and parcel-gilt frame

Condition

In overall very good conserved condition. Colour of frames less orange and slightly lighter and the marble is less greyish and more natural and attractive than in the catalogue photograph. The nose of Ottavius has a restored break but this is not too noticeable. Old very minor marks, chips and scratches generally but these are hardly noticeable and do not detract from the piece. There is an old horizontal restored break across the black marble ground of Julius Ceasar but this has been well executed.
