Description

  • ink heightened with gold on paper
ink heightened with gold on paper, written in black diwani script, the page containing the name of the Prophet within an illuminated palm tree, River of Paradise depicted to the left, with a border of scolling vegetation, backed on cloth

In good overall condition, some creases, as viewed.

A similar one-page Qur'an, dated 1150 AH/1738 AD, is in the Islamic Arts Museum, Malaysia (illustrated in F.P. Khuan (Ed.), Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia, Vol.I, Kuala Lumpur, 2002, pp.146-7), whilst a further copy was sold in these rooms 3 October 2012, lot 25.
