Pile generally good and even overall with lower area, down to knot-heads, in the centre of the ivory mihrab. Oxidisation to taupe in hanging lamp. Foundation a little dry. There are approximately 1/2 dozen, small splits in copper coloured plain surround, which have been repaired. Approximately 4cm split in lower section of right hand border, approximately 60cm from the lower edge. Some minute scattered splits in the centre of the field. Side cords with vestiges of original blue wrapping, fringes trimmed. Upper and lower ends with reinforced stitched linen tape. Would benefit from a clean and strengthening of the breaks. Specialist Comment: Beautifully balanced design, some charming details such as the chequerboard detailing in the roses and in the spandrels. Particularly pretty flowering plants.
