Condition

Measurements: 164cm wide across the top, 163cm. across the bottom, 235cm long left side, 234cm long right side. Generally even 1-2mm pile overall. Centre of lower row of design with small area of wear to foundation. Faded colours overall on front. Ends trimmed, vestiges of fringes. Herringbone tape attached across the top end. Rebound side cords. Would benefit from a clean. Robust, dense weave. Specialist Comment: Lovely drawing and design. EMBARGO ON IMPORTATION OF PERSIAN/IRANIAN WORKS OF ART TO THE USA. The design of this carpet is based on the distinctive design found on a rug in The Frick Collection, New York, called the 'Carpet with Tree Pattern', of Northern Indian manufacture, reign of Shah Jahan (1628-1658), circa 1650, silk and pashmina (226.8cm. by 192 cm.), Henry Clay Frick Bequest, Accession number: 1916.10.07.
