carved in high relief with traces of polychrome paint, featuring an inscription in muhaqqaq script within a setting of interlacing split-leaf palmettes
Condition
In general good condition, the decorated surface with traces of polychromatic paint, some ware, including chips and scuffs to edges, some old worm holes throughout and scratches, the reverse with a cut near the edge, two old nails drilled in bottom edge remaining, as viewed.

The decorative elements of this wooden panel feature a large inscription in muhaqqaq script niched between entwining scrolls of stylised split-palmettes which are all worked in deep relief. The overall effect is visually comparable to the stylistic designs seen on the facades of certain monuments in Konya dated to the second half of the thirteenth century, notably, the Iwan of the Ince Minareli Madrasa (Giovanni Curatola, l'Art Seljoukide & Ottoman, Imprimerie Nationale Ed., Paris, 2010, pp. 36-43) and (Gedad Hakki Eldem, Türk Mimari Eserleri, Works of Turkish Architecture, Istanbul, Yapi Ve Kredi Banksinin, O. J., ca. 1970., pp. 53-55).
