- Ink, gouache, gold on paper
comprising 2 leaves, each painting surrounded by an illuminated border of polychrome and gold interlacing vegetation, f.1a blank with various incriptions in nasta'liq script, f.2b with 16 lines of white nasta'liq script against gold-ground cartouches amidst dense scrolls of chinoiserie cloud bands and interlacing polychrome and gold vines
Condition
In generally good overall condition, some light creasing, some rubbing and losses to leaf edges with some associated repair, colours and gold vivid and bright, as viewed.

Notes on the opening page:
The eight-line note: It starts with the bismillah and states that this Shahnameh of large size on Dawlat-abadi paper belonged to Mir Sultan Muhammad Khan son of Mir Sultan Ahmad Khan Sayf al-Mulk Talish and that apparently it belonged to the deceased Mir Mustafa Khan Talishi and wishes that it will remain with their children. The note was written on Tuesday 26 Sha’ban 1305 AH/1888 AD.
Sultan Ahmad Khan Sayf al-Mulk was the grand-son of ‘Abbas Mirza through his mother Farkhondeh Khanom (daughter of ‘Abbas Mirza) and he and his brother governed Astara, Namin and Gorgan-rud. They were also Khans of Namin who had been governing most of Talish since Nadir Shah period. There is also a birth date of Mir Kazim Khan son of Mir Lutf’ali Khan Governor of Talish on Thursday 19 dhi-qa’da 1311 AH/1894 AD.
