  • ivory, enamel, red agate, gold
  • 5.1cm., 2in. high
of upright rectangular form, the gold cagework mounts chased with a bird and a hound within scrolls and flowers, the lid with a white enamel collar inscribed in gold: 'je me fie a votre amitie', the interior complete with two gold-capped scent bottles, ivory tablets, a spoon, a folding knife, a pair of tweezers, a later pencil top, lid mirror-lined, garnet thumbpiece

Condition

back panel of lid cracked, 1 ivory slip repaired, one bottle top dented in centre, otherwise overall good condition.
