Description

  • kingwood , gilt-bronze,bois satiné
  • 73cm. high, 139cm. wide, 76cm. deep; 2ft. 4¾in., 4ft. 6¾in., 2ft. 6in.
the rectangular top crossbanded and with palissander bandings and a trelliswork ground enclosing flowerheads above three frieze drawers, the central drawer with a raised gilt-bronze panel with a quiver of arrows and flaming torches, opposing dummy drawers, on square tapering legs applied with husks

Purchased by the present owner in these Rooms,19th and 20th Century Furniture and Decorations, 3rd October 1997, lot 140.

Condition

In overall good conserved condition. Fine detail to parquetry and the gilt-bronze mounts are of exceptional quality. Some old very minor marks chips and scratches to the marble top commensurate with normal usage. Old minor restoration to the parquetry top to a couple of diaper motifs which is well executed.
