Description

  • gilt-bronze, kingwood, oak, bois satiné
  • 107cm. high, 125cm. wide, 47cm. deep;3ft. 6in., 4ft. 1in., 1ft. 6½in.
in the manner of Charles Cressent, with a shaped brèche violette marble top above a frieze drawer centred by a satyr mask, the cupboard doors inlaid with floral marquetry enclosing a shelf, the knees with female busts, with similarly inlaid sides, the whole with gilt-bronze scrolling foliate and shell mounts on scrolled feet; marble top restored

Provenance

Purchased by the present owner in these Rooms, 19th and 20th Century Furniture and Decorations, 3rd October 1997, lot 142.

Condition

In overall good conserved condition. Old minor marks chips and scratches and infill to the marble top which are hardly noticeable. There is a restored diagonal break to the rear right and smaller one to the rear left corners of the marble top which has been well executed.
