Description

  • teak wool
the moulded cartouche-shaped back with out-set arms, the oval moulded seat with a panel of early 18th century needlework, on acanthus-leaf carved cabriole legs with claw and ball feet and joined by  waved crossed stretchers

Condition

Top right hand side of the splat is reapired and patched. The left hand side is patched adjacent to the join with the arm. The right hand arm is repaired adjacent to the join with the splat and has a metal brace, and the splat it self is also repaired. The front of the left hand arm is repaired with a metal brace. Some screw holes to the rear of the back. Some later screws at base of splat. Some shrinkage cracks consistent with age. Minor losses to mouldings and carved detail consistent with age and use. With regard to the upholstered seat; the needlework is worked in petit-point and gros-point. It is worked with a plant and dog. There is a horizontal and another vertical split, near the tree and on left side. It is dirty and would benefit from a clean. It has later work to the gros point. A rare chair.
