Description

the reverse engraved with an inscription, on rectangular black marble base, pattern number: 596

Condition

Light surface scratches commensurate with age, the black stone base has a chip to the back left corner, one tiny dent to the back-plate towards the top, otherwise in overall good condition.

Catalogue Note

The inscription reads: ‘1867 . 6 . SEPTEMBER . 1937 / AKTIESELSKABET NORDISK GJENFORSIKRINGS SELSKAB’
The inscription refers to the Nordic Gjenforsikrings Company, a Danish insurance business which was established on 20 June 1894 and which, through a series of ownership changes, is now part of Swiss Re whose headquarters are in Zurich.
