Description

  • cloisonne enamel and metal fittings
each with a bulbous section rising from a spreading foot to a tall trumpet neck, brightly decorated against a turquoise ground with bands of archaistic square scrolls, leaf lappets and floral scrolls, the gilt rim incised with a keyfret band, mounted as lamps

Condition

Both vases are mounted as lamps, so the interior and base are not inspected. Both with minor filled enamel losses, and a network of crackle extending horizontally about 3cm down the rim. Minor loss and rubbing to the gilding, slightly tarnished. One vase with extensive pitting to the enamels near the bottom.
