- 97cm. high, 177cm., 72cm.; 3ft. 2¼in., 5ft. 9½in., 2ft. 4½in.
with an arched back and scroll arms covered with associated mid 18th century, gros-point and petit-point needlework, on carved square legs with stretchers
Condition
Generally this sofa is in good condition. The legs are scuffed consistent with age and use. Very decorative. Possibly containing some 18th century elements.
Needlework is composite of different styles and sections. Centre of back has petit-point depicting scene from the Story of Troy. Different style of cartouche on the seat with flowers and brown ground. Gros-point surround with some repairs and restoration. Generally some losses with canvas visible. Holes in needlework on the arms and within male figure of central cartouche. Hand repair to top right corner.
