Catalogue Note
The present bedside steps formed part of a large Gillows commission for William Hulton in 1812, see Gillows ref. 344/65, p.74. William Hulton was the son of Jane Brooke, of Mere Hall, Cheshire. The Mere Hall commission was another substantial and well documented Gillows commission.
