Description

  • pine beech marble
  • 73cm. high, 78cm. diam.; 2ft. 4¾in., 2ft. 6¾in.
the top inlaid in various marbles with a central panel depicting a ewer, coral shells and pearls within a border inlaid with flower filled cornucopiae and an outer border of laurel leaves, the table, later gold painted,  with a gadrooned edge, on a leaf carved baluster stem and cabriole legs carved with cabochons

Condition

The marble top has some discolouration, water marks and minor losses. The table has been later gold painted. It shows some old worm damage and there are losses to the carving on the feet

The form of the table with its carved cabochons on the foot and gadrooned edge is typical of the designs of Gillows of Lancaster.
