Provenance
Sotheby's, London, Important English Furniture, 8 July 1994, lot 71.
Condition
Generally in very good condition. There are some minor chips to the edge of the later marble top. The frame of the table has some minor old worm damage and it has signs that a wooden top had been fitted at some stage to the table. There are some age cracks to the veneers on the frieze consistent with age and a small loss to the carving beneath the centred shell. The rear left leg has an old repaired break which is scarcely visible and does not detract from the carving on the legs is exceptionally deep and crisp. Feet a bit scuffed but overall a lovely table.
