A Meissen Marcolini teapot and cover, circa 1800

of inverted pear shape, finely painted on the front with a shoulder-length portrait of a young woman, the reverse inscribed 'Si non caste, tamen caute' [If not with Integrity, nevertheless with caution] within floral frames, crossed swords and star mark in underglaze-blue, some restoration to handle.

There are two areas of spray at the top terminal of the handle. There are some small chips to the flower finial of the cover.
