- Porcelain
- the coffee pot: 9.4cm., 3 3/4 in. high
comprising: a teapot and cover, delicately gilt with small scattered flower sprigs, a teapot and cover and sugar bowl and cover, printed in underglaze-blue with the 'Fisherman and Cormorant' pattern, enriched in gilding, both with S mark in underglaze-blue, the sucrier with workman's mark X, and a coffee pot and cover of baluster form also in underglaze-blue with the same pattern, minor damage.

Condition
the gilt decorated teapot: There is a minute chip on the tip of the spout.
the pieces in the 'Fisherman and Cormorant' pattern and gilt decoration:
teapot cover: there is a flake to the gilding on the finial.
teapot: there is a small flat chip to the spout and some typical rubbing to the gilding.
sucrier cover: there is a chip to the rim,
sucrier: there is some typical rubbing to the gilding on the rim.

Catalogue Note
A Caughley trio in the same pattern as the gilt-decorated teapot, from the Susi and Ian Sutherland Collection was sold at Bonhams, London, 3rd October 2007, lot 370. In the 1780s Humphrey Chamberlain & Son of Worcester purchased partially decorated and whitewares from Caughley, which would then be highlighted in gilding.
