  • 14.7cm, 5 3/4 in. high
of globular form with a pleated body painted in green camaïeu with flower garlands and formal gilt borders at the rims.

Condition

There is some rubbing to the gilding on the finial and to the shoulder of the teapot

Catalogue Note

There are examples of Giles-decorated Chinese porcelain with the same gilt border.  The border also appears on a New Hall cup signed 'F. Duvivier fecit', in the Luton Museum and Art Gallery, illustrated by Bernard Watney, 'Four or five pointers to the possibility that Fidelle Duvivier worked for James Giles', E.C.C transactions, 1992, vol. 14, part 3. A pair of Derby teabowls with puce marks also decorated in this pattern is illustrated by John Twitchett, Derby Porcelain, 2002, p. 242, col. pl. 236.
