Catalogue Note

This pattern ultimately derives from Chinese Kangxi period famille-verte porcelain. It was also used at Worcester from 1768 and was later re-introduced by Flight, Chamberlain and Coalport. A further example of this form and pattern from the Shand Kydd collection is illustrated by Frank Tilley, Teapots and Tea, 1957, no. 142. For a discussion of the Plymouth Factory see Colin Hanley's E.C.C article, ibid. Full article available online on Sothebys.com.
