Description

  • PORCELAIN
  • 13.4cm., 5 1/2 in. high
of baluster form with a straight faceted spout and a closed floral finial, painted on each side with the 'Valentine' pattern beneath a puce scroll and diaper pattern border, restoration to end of spout.

Catalogue Note

The 'Valentine' pattern was copied from a Chinese Export pattern, itself based on a drawing done by Lieutenant Percy Brett for Commodore Anson during his journey around the world between 1740 and 1744. The Chinese service was made for Anson in 1743.
