Description
- PORCELAIN
- 9.8cm., 3 7/8 in. high
of squat hexagonal faceted form, painted in blue with a large flowering peony beneath a willow tree with a small flower sprig beneath the terminal of the spout, the design repeated on the domed cover, the handle and spout painted with flower buds flanked by leaves, minor chips and minor short haircrack.

Condition
there is a minute flat chip on the underside edge of the rim of the spout. There is a flat chip on the outside edge of the rim, with a short associated hairline crack.

Catalogue Note
Only a handful of Lund’s Bristol teapots are currently recorded, one of globular form is illustrated by Geoffrey Godden, English Blue and White Porcelain, 2004, p. 16, pl. 4 sold at Phillips, London, in September 1996, a second, the only other known example in a globular form, from the A.J. Smith collection, is illustrated by Simon Spero, Lund’s Bristol and Early Worcester porcelain 1750-58, The A. J. Smith Collection, 2006, p. 77, pl. 7. The four petal flower sprig beneath the terminal of the teapot appears on a Lund’s Bristol cream pail from the R. David Butti collection, previously in the Simpson collection, sold at Bonhams London, 10th May 2006, lot 102.
