- A micromosaic panel of the Temple of Vesta at Tivoli, Rome, circa 1800
- tortoiseshell, gold, micromosaic
- 7.8cm., 3 1/8 in. diameter
circular, set in an earlier gold-mounted tortoiseshell box, probably French, circa 1785, piqué overall with scattered stars, the gold mounts alternatively reeded or stamped with acanthus, apparently unmarked
Condition
gold rim slightly lifting from base and outter rim slightly dented, rim to lid also very slightly dented at midday, two splits to top rim, a few stars missing. otherwise good condition. possible illegible control mark, probably Paris, maison de la Commune.
